What exactly needs to be in my pitch?
The rest of the physical theatre company members have asked you to create a short pitch (no more than a five minute audio recording or an 800 word document) to explain your idea.
Introduction
Introduce the theme or concept that you would like to communicate during your performance. Be as detailed as you can and explain what message you would like to convey to the audience and why.
Physical Theatre Techniques
Explain what physical theatre techniques you would like to use in your devised piece and how these style/s help you to express your theme or idea.
Some techniques we have explored in class are:
· Use of space (Big world/small space and Big space/small world)
· Connection using objects (performers connecting using sticks)
· Using objects to create shapes and environments (bamboo sticks)
· Use of the 7 levels of tension (pace, posture, style of movement.)
· Use of repetition in movement and dialogue (Metamorphosis)
· Movement to music
· Physical connection to other performers
You may also decide you may want to use aspects of mime, gymnastics, slapstick and/or dance.
NB: You should make reference to your chosen physical theatre companies in this section and show how you are influenced by their performance style/techniques and why you would like to use a similar style in your own performance.
The Stimuli
Explain how you are going to use the stimuli in your performance.
You may write this with close reference to your choice of physical theatre styles or as a stand-alone section.
Theatre Design
Please consider how you will use the following design elements in your performance to effectively communicate your theme or idea:
· Costume
· Lighting
· Set
· Props
NB: You should make reference to your chosen physical theatre company in this section and show how you are influenced by their design choices and why you would like to use a similar style in your own performance.
Conclusion
Explain why you think your performance idea should be chosen as the next devised project.
Why do you think that an audience should see your work? What makes it special?
