Criterion B: Developing Skills
This criterion refers to your ability to practically apply your knowledge and understanding of the skills and techniques you have learned in your Drama lessons.
Criterion B will assess the development of your movement and vocal theatre skills during this unit, most specifically how you apply those within a scripted performance to communicate status.
You will be assessed using the following:
Process Journal
Your Process Journal (PJ) is very important document as will detail the development of your ideas and skills during this unit. It will document your experimentation with the new skills acquired and reveals the development of these skills in your planning for your final performance.
In your Process Journal you will:
Exploration in Class
Every lesson you will practically explore and experiment with new skills associated with physical theatre, such as your use of movement, working as an ensemble, use of repetition etc... The development of these skills will be continually assessed during every lesson through teacher observations.
You will:
Criterion B Assessment: Final Performance of a script extract from a well known play.
For your final performance for this unit you will research, rehearse and develop a performance of a scripted extract from a well known play.
With a partner you will:

Process Journal

In your Process Journal you will:
- Describe and evaluate the workshop activities you participated in during class.
- Annotate photos and videos of workshops.
Exploration in Class
Every lesson you will practically explore and experiment with new skills associated with physical theatre, such as your use of movement, working as an ensemble, use of repetition etc... The development of these skills will be continually assessed during every lesson through teacher observations.
You will:
- work through a series of movement exercises to explore how skills such as use of facial expressions, posture, mannersims, levels, proxemics etc. are used to communicate meaning within a performance.
- work through a series of movement exercises to explore how skills such as projection, volume, articulation and tome are used to communicate meaning within a performance.
- rehearse a scene from An Importance of Being Earnest to explore how movement and vocal skills can be used to communicate status.
- document this the creative process in your Process Journal
Criterion B Assessment: Final Performance of a script extract from a well known play.
For your final performance for this unit you will research, rehearse and develop a performance of a scripted extract from a well known play.
With a partner you will:
- research your chosen play to find out more about the status/relationship between the two characters.
- learn your script extract (no scripts must be used for your final performance).
- use movement and vocal skills to present your character to the audience.
- use movement and vocal skills to communicate your character's relationship with others to the audience.
- use movement and vocal skills to communicate the status of the two characters within the scene.
- select costumes, props and simple set pieces to be used during the performance of your script extract to create a realistic scene.
